Mr. Hamdard Attends the Sasakawa Peace Foundation Lecture “US-Japan Relations in a Changing Asia” by Mr. Richard Fontaine


October 1st, 2018: First Secretary and Consul Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo had the pleasure to attend the lecture “US-Japan Relations in a Changing Asia” hosted by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation Building. At the event, Mr. Hamdard greatly enjoyed exchanging ideas with other diplomats with missions in Japan and distinguished guests and experts, and exploring the critical questions for the peace and security of the region. Mr. Hamdard also availed himself to the occasion to extend his warmest thanks to the Sasakawa Peace Foundation for hosting such an important event, as well as expressed his hope for the foundation to continue convening a meaningful agenda for the countries of the region.

The seminar was led by Mr. Richard Fontaine, President of the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) and moderated by Mr. Hiroki Sugita from Kyodo News and Professor Ryo Sahashi from Kanagawa University. The dignified participants focused on discussing the shifting geopolitical landscape in the Indo-Pacific region and ways to continue promoting regional and international cooperation in light of such changes.
