Forum Hosted by The Japan Institute of International Affairs


April 10, 2019: Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, had the pleasure of attending a forum hosted by The Japan Institute of International Affairs. The forum, entitled “What’s next beyond JPN/EU EPA” included several distinguished speakers and panelists who offered their insights on international economic relations and Japanese foreign policy. The panel included the European Commissioner for Trade Dr. Cecilia Malmstrӧm, the Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Professor Yoriko Kawaguchi of Musashino University, and Professor Yorizumi Watanabe of Kansai University. The forum was moderated by Permanent Representative of Japan to the International Organizations in Geneva and former Ambassador Yoichi Otabe.


Mr. Basir Hamdard was pleased to be a part of the forum where diplomats, academics, and attendees could discuss the evolution of trade relations between Japan and the European Union. Mr. Hamdard commended the JIIA for six decades of continued facilitation of such dialogues, which have unceasingly connected scholars, experts, and institutions from around the world. Mr. Hamdard was glad to be involved in JIIA’s detailed approach and commitment to looking deeply into world events, national policy, and effects thereof.
