February 26, 2020: It was a pleasure for H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat to receive a Courtesy Call by Ms. Mika Lee, VIP Relations and Overseas Business Department Chief Director of Art Fair Tokyo, at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo. Also in attendance was Mr. Nasrullah Rozbeh, Second Secretary and Cultural Affairs for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo.

Art Fair Tokyo is the largest art fair in Japan and Asia, featuring a wide range of contemporary arts. Art Tokyo Association, as of this post, is preparing for Art Fair Tokyo 2020, with the fair theme being “with Art.” This will be the largest international art fair in Japan and will be taking place across two floors of Tokyo International Forum. There will be showcases of an extraordinary range of art period, region, and genre. This year, Afghan artist Mr. Kabir Mokamel, will be one of the artists exhibiting his work. Mr. Mokamel “paints on walls to raise awareness about human rights, the negative effects of corruption, and to open up people’s minds to new prospects. Mr. Mokamel is the co-founder and Creative Director of ArtLords and has won multiple prestigious awards.”

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat extended his appreciation to Ms. Mika Lee for arranging the time in her schedule to meet. In return, Ms. Mika Lee thanked H.E. Dr. Mohabbat for his sincere words and for making time in his schedule and for the warm welcome. On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat, extended gratitude for the support from the Art Tokyo Association in providing the opportunity for one of Afghanistan’s dynamic new artists to display his work in a globally recognized international event. Moreover, he thanked the people and Government of Japan for their steadfast and benevolent support of Afghanistan over the years as it has striven from progress, prosperity, and peace.
