Arranging the Repatriation of Afghan Students and Seeing Them Off.

Afghan Student Repatriation

June 5, 2020: In order to address the concerns of the 20 Afghan students and their dependents in Japan wanting to return home due to the COVID-19 situation, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo, and JICA worked with great effort in conjunction with Qatar Airlines to arrange repatriation flights for the 48 Afghan nationals.

In order to make certain all the details went smoothly and in order to bid a parting farewell, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat and Second Secretary Mr. Nasrullah Rozbeh traveled to Narita Airport to see off the first group of students being repatriated. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat wished them safe travels on their journey and expressed his sincerest wishes for the preservation of their health throughout the process. Another group will be repatriating on June 12, for a total of 48 repatriations, and it is anticipated that they will all be returned safely to Afghanistan thanks to the efforts on their behalf.
