Several reconstruction projects completed

Pul-i-alam, December 25, 2007 (Pajhwok Afghan News): Two school projects with a cost of 250,000 US dollars completed with the support of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) in central Logar province.

The schools each having 16 class-rooms accommodating 900 students completed in Muhammad Agha and Barak-i-Barak districts within six months, Eng. Abdul Rahman director MRRD regional office said.

He added some six schools will be constructed in the province in future.

Meanwhile in Nangarhar, education director Muhammad Iqbal Azizi laid the foundation stone of three schools in Shewa, Chaparhar and Behsod districts of the province on Tuesday.

He added the schools will be constructed with the support of a Japanese volunteer group named (Shant) however; he did not give information about the total cost of the projects.

Meanwhile, one co-education school was also completed in a remote village of the northwestern Badghis province. The school which worth about $223,000 was completed with the support of Spain, provincial reconstruction team (PRT) in the Kana Ghul village of Aabkamiri district.

In Kunduz, the German provincial reconstruction team based in the Northern Province announced the reconstruction of a road which connects Khanabad district with the provincial capital and also the installation of two power turbines.

A German commander Setzer announced the reconstruction projects during a meeting with the local officials held in Aqtash area of the district.
